One of my favorite childhood cereals - Freakies. Okay....maybe it wasn't that great. It was all about the toys inside (and I had them all)!
Boss Moss, Hamhose, Snorkledorf, Grumble, Goody-Goody, Cowmumble, and Gargle were created by Ralston-Purina copywriter Jackie End and hit store shelves in 1973.
You can get your own authentic FreakieWear Tee Shirts HERE!

One of my favorite ghoulish artists....Eric "Unkle" Pigors!
The above prints are available on his website along with tons of other creepy goodies.
Eric's Toxic Toons figures are based on his work, "Let's Play at the Morgue". Your best bet for snagging a set of these is eBay.
He also did 2 Circus Punks (which I am the proud owner of)! Both were limited to 100 pieces each.

About the artist:
Shan Michael Evans, also known as Squidboy, is an avid artist and lover of horror movies. Having customized a variety of toys over the years, Squidboy has developed a clean, partly whimsical, partly dark style all his own to share the message that the dead will rise again.

I absolutely loved this story when I was a child. I had the book with the record that "dinked" when you were supposed to turn the page.
It was written and illustrated by Wende and Harry Devlin in 1972. The story is about a mean spirited man, Mr. Butterbean, who tries to stop halloween in the town of Oldwick. It's up to Old Witch to stop him and rescue halloween!
I had found the book again years ago at a yard sale but wasn't able to get my hands on the record. Thanks to the MOSTLY GHOSTLY MUSIC SHARING BlAAHHHGGG!!! I now have the soundtrack to my book (dinks and skips included)! Check it out here. He also has an awesome selection of creepy stories and ghoulish tunes from the 1970s uploaded.
All I need now is my Mickey Mouse record player and I'm good to go!

I'm excited!!!
For the first time in over 25 years, Chiller Theatre is back on WPIX with the presentation of the 1955 pulp horror classic Tarantula at 8 pm on Saturday, October 25th.
Zacherley “The Cool Ghoul” (John Zacherle) and former host of Chiller Theatre in New York on WPIX (1963) will resurrect his alter-ego and host WPIX’s October 25 special. Plus, the original opens: “The Six-Fingered Hand” and the “Monster Montage” along with Tarantula trivia will run as interstitials.
The original Chiller Theatre aired in all of its ghoulish glory on WPIX in 1961-1978 and again from 1980-1982.

It just wasn't Saturday morning without the Groovie Goolies!
A spinoff of the Archie comic book and television series, the 1970s Saturday morning cartoon GROOVIE GOOLIES followed the musical adventures of a hipster rock band that also happened to be classic horror-movie monsters like Frankenstein, Wolfman, Mummy and Dracula.
You can pick up Groovie Goolies: Saturday Mourning Collection on dvd for $17.99.

A fun stop-motion animated film which was released in 1967. The film was created using the Rankin/Bass "Animagic" process (think Rudolph, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, Year Without A Santa Claus). Mad Magazine creator Harvey Kurtzman penned the script, and Mad artist Jack Davis designed many of the characters.
In addition to the famous monsters seen in the film, Mad Monster Party
also features several celebrity likenesses. Boris Karloff and Phyllis
Diller's characters are both designed to look like the actors
portraying them, while the hunchbacked lackey named Yetch is a physical
and vocal caricature of Peter Lorre.
PLOT
Dr. Frankensten decides to retire, leaving the monster business to his nerdy nephew,
Felix Flanken. Frankenstein plans to announce his decision at a
convention of monsters that includes his creature and the creature's
more intelligent mate, Frankenstein's seductive fembot laboratory
assistant Francesca, Dracula, the Werewolf, the Creature From The Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, The Mummy, It (a knock-off of King Kong),
and many more. However when Felix proves to be an incompetent (and
unsuitably kind-hearted) human, the monsters plot to eliminate him and
gain control of Frankenstein's latest discovery: the secret of total
destruction!
Now Available on DVD .

Which Witch? was made by Milton Bradley in 1970. It is a 3d haunted house game in which players move their pawns around the board trying to be the first to escape the house.
I never had this game when I was child but I do remember playing it.
If you're looking for a copy your best bet is probably eBay.

Sticking with the Haunted Mansion theme...
this was another one of my favorite things, which has also disappeared.
Disney released this album in 1964. Side one contained 10 stories in which the narrator (Laura Olsher) would set up the situation and the sound effects would take over and tell the story. Side 2 was a collection of sound effects grouped by category. These were for creating your own story and create we did! I think I still have some homemade scary tales on cassette somewhere.

In 1975 owning this board game automatically made you cool. All my friends in the neighborhood would gather round the dining room table to play, except Stacy. If I recall correctly she was afraid of the game....she was also afraid to watch Scooby Doo, go figure.
This board game was based on the classic attraction from Walt Disney World. Players would try to move their pawn through the haunted mansion. A major portion of the game board consisted of rotating discs that changed the path a player's pawn could take.
I miss this game. It lived in my grandmother's attic for years and then mysteriously disappeared.
If you ever see this one at a flea market or yard sale make sure to snatch it up.

Voltaire is a singer/songwriter whose music has its roots deeply embedded in European folk music. Voltaire's live shows, whether solo or with his skeletal orchestra, are highly theatrical - full of props and stories. He also has been directing commercials and animating short films for over a decade.
...the sinister "Rakthavira" with Deborah Harry...
Voltaire continues to write, record and perform music - works on the occasional comic book and designs toys. He also teaches stop-animation at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
Voltaire appeared in the Creator Qee Series with this 2.5" Qee from Toy2R.
