This very low-budget film came out in 1971 and starred Zohra Lampert. I remember her fondly from the Goya commercials she did in the late 70s through the early 80s where she exclaimed, "Goya Oh Boy-a!"
Zohra, in her only starring role, played Jessica - a woman who recently suffered a nervous breakdown and moves to an old farmhouse in rural connecticut to heal. Along with her husband and their friend Woody, they attempt to start fresh. Things seem to be going well until a very pale hippie-chic comes into the picture and the voices in Jessica's head return. Is Jessica losing it again or is something really after her?
Seeing this late at night when I was a child gave me the creeps. The scene where Emily (hippie-chic) rises from the water was emblazoned in my mind for years. In the late 80s it became a cult classic amongst my group of friends. We gave it "Rocky Horror" status whenever we all got together to watch it (which was frequently). I originally had a vhs copy from television and then upgraded to the vhs tape when it was released in the late 80s. In 2006 Jessica finally made it to dvd. I was a little disappointed that it did not include any features but I was happy to replace my worn out vhs tape.
