I first laid my eyes on Dinah Cancer (aka - Mary Simms) in the early 80s. I was watching New Wave Theatre when Peter Ivers introduced the band 45 Grave. It was love at first sight.
The original members disbanded in 1985 but re-emerged again in 1988. Sadly the band came to an end with the untimely passing of Rob Graves in 1991. Mary devoted the next decade to raising her children and furthering her education.
She re-entered the music industry when joining the band Penis Flytrap. From there, her and drummer Hal Satan formed Dinah Cancer and the Graverobbers - a living tribute to 45 Grave.
Since then 45 Grave has been re-formed. It may be almost 3 decades later and the players may have changed but everytime I hear Dinah's voice I still get those chills down my spine.
