Just caught a Blacula double feature last night ... "Blacula" and "Scream Blacula Scream". William Marshall's facial hair is quite frightening ... and those eyebrows, oh those eyebrows. I had flashbacks of my youth...hiding under a blanket while watching this. He was quite creepy.
Blacula is a 1972 blaxploitation horror film produced for American Intenational Pictures. It was directed by William Crain and stars William Marshall in the title role. The film deals with the character of Mamuwalde, an African prince transformed into a vampire and then imprisoned in a sealed coffin by Count Dracula, only to find himself released in the 1970s.
A sequel, Scream Blacula Scream, was released in 1973, in which Marshall resumed his role as Blacula/Mamuwalde.
Amok Time has a 12" Blacula Action Figure coming out in early 2009.
I also came across this bust from Geometric Design. Scuplted by Joe Simon, Includes name plate and resin base. 1/4 scale.
